I didn’t notice any unacceptable extraneous noise in that sound. Maybe I’m too old to hear it. Or maybe it’s more noticeable when playing with less crunch dialled in?
Some of Behringer’s gear is pretty ganky. Some of it is ok. I think you kind of have to ask around before buying any of their stuff.
It’s a lot more obvious in the room I think, but it’s definitely noticeable in the recording to me. We have been having power issues here due to storms, and one of my amps might have suffered from low voltage, which I didn’t realize was going on immediately. It’s definitely not good to run tube amps at lowered voltage unless they are rebiased to the lower voltage.
Skipped the Behringer and installed my old firewire interface in Manjaro. That should be plenty fine for the occasional guitar and vox recording. I swear that having the kiddo causes a brain hemorrhage some days, to the point that very obvious things become not obvious at all, and very easy things become difficult.
Strange that the firewire audio interface shows up in windows sometimes and sometimes not, with no apparent rhyme or reason for why. It had been some months since I fired up Manjaro, so I updated of course, but things broke as expected. In this case, pamac was failing to download packages. Luckily someone else had got the same error message from the package manager when trying to update and left mention of a fix: uninstall and reinstall pamac.
