Planting a lawn

Not bad for just one week.

It’s still a little thin is some parts, but the nice thing about bermuda, once it starts going, it spreads pretty quickly.

I’ll go back and overseed some of the bare spots in a couple of weeks, but so far, so good!!

I noticed birds started pecking around on my lawn. I’m not sure if they were eating the seed or bugs since pretty much all of the seed has germinated and started to grow. So I put in a bird feeder just to be safe.

I just put it in yesterday, took the birds a little while to get use to it, but it looks like it’s working for now.

I cut the grass for the first time yesterday. It’s starting to fill in nicely.

Compost here is crazy expensive so I’ll go with some starter fertilizer next week.

Here’s the mower I bought for the job.

I love those reel mowers. They provide a much cleaner cut than the rotary mowers. With the small area to cut, I didn’t need the extra cost and weight of a gas powered mower.

Well done Tol, improved the property and the view from the street.

Hopefully the neighbourhood kids won’t see that grassy strip as a handy baseball/cricket pitch, in which case some window shielding might be in order.

Thanks Morgo.

Still a ways to go, but so far so good.
