I agree that having a monarchy is a stupid, disgusting outdated concept, but my understanding is that people can be nominated for knighthoods by anyone and the queen pretty much just hands them out, she doesn’t solely decide who gets them.
I haven’t got a problem with people being praised for good works ( i’ve never actually heard of this guy before so i don’t know whether he deserves it or not) but i suspect that political lobbying or having friends in high places is actually far more likely to get you one of these titles than actual good deeds.

You guys hang on to your “royal” designations, I won’t and I certainly wont call any person a Sir or “Your majesty”. It goes against my notion of equality.
