What are you recording right now

Thanks for the comments.

Lead vocal has the [free] BESURE-N87 vst
[Condenser mic emulator]

[Free] Blockfish compressor [‘close up vocal’ preset]

And two instances of ReaEQ

The lead vocal is doubled in a lot of places, there’s only Blockfish comp and EQ on that track.

Those two tracks have the Master/Parent send disabled and are sent to a Lead vocal bus

That Lead Vocal bus has ReaEQ and [free] VOLA 2 vst and has Master/Parent send disabled also.

The Lead Vocal bus is sent to a Reverb track [[free]Valhalla Supermassive : Bright Room preset tweaked] and also to a Delay track [[free]Dead Duck delay, 16th note timing [synced]] Both those have EQ or two

All three tracks are sent to the Mixbus which has only a gain plugin on it to control the level of the entire mix going to the Master bus.

About the chord prog mentioned -

Key of F Major =

1.F Maj
2. Gm
3. Am
4. Bb
5. C
6. Dm
7. Em7b5

The 6, 4, 1, 5 progression I referred to is Dm, Bb, F, C

I think ‘vim’ threw Jorgen, it did me at first
I was thinking of the text editor

You don’t really need to add m or mi if you write vi in lowercase

vi is minor

VI is major

VI7 is dominant

Yeah, it did. All makes sense now.

It was a minor mistake

Well played

This one’s been in the recycle file due to a crash. The intro, outro solo section and section leading into it quick mix was the only version of those parts which was saved so I have to use it or recreate the entire sections. I figure I’ll call it sound fx and move on

I might add some extra keys where there’s only single trk gtr, bass, drums.

Edit] Just now noticed the too loud note in intro. And I couldn’t recreate that flange sound, I wanted more pick attack on some those hammered on notes.

Also now noticed mix vols are too uneven, esp on vocs, needs ironing out a bit. There’s nothing like posting a track to find out what still needs some work

Also, as lyrics are often understood/misunderstood/filtered as a matter of interpretation, it goes that a line such as “…or will it just be the ice and the cold advice that add to the rising tide?” doesn’t state a position on ‘man made’ climate change.

Those flanging arpeggios are musical, can’t help thinking Metallica. So – I wouldn’t mind if those parts were softer, and less in your face. Maybe too much compression? A cleaner, softer sound would add a nice contrast to the heavier parts, imo.

Unfortunately that section is the unfinished rendered mix and is the only thing left of that section after the computer crash. Maybe I can eq/dynamic eq it somewhat.

I know it’s a pain, but record that part again? The song is a good one.

Rock/pop/ballad/ditty of sorts.

Not recording anything right now.
Still working on a song I started 25 years ago. Should be done by the time I’m ninety

In that case, I would record a soundbyte of just something, anything, every day, and review after about a week. I’ve found the way past ‘writers block’ is to put something to paper or to recorder app, no matter what, often an improvement on the original ‘half baked’ idea will suggest itself on a different day.

Im about to record a makeover of a mostly epic fail track I posted a couple of years ago. I took the basic chord riff thing and scuttled the voc melody, added a dynamic chorus and now I’m liking it waaay better.

That nice encouragement Morgon “take a sad song and make it better”
I just need to stick with one thing until it obeys me, damn it

Garrick, have you checked this metal guitar guy accompanying the All Black’s haka? Very cool indeed

Ha ha, well I’ll provide the lyrics. Composed by Te Rauparaha around 1820

Leader
KA MATE! KA MATE!
We’re going to die! We’re going to die!
We were at war
Chorus
KA ORA, KA ORA!
We’re going to live! We’re going to live!
But now there is peace.
Leader
KA MATE! KA MATE!
We’re going to die! We’re going to die!
We thought we were all going to die
Chorus
KA ORA, KA ORA!
We’re going to live! We’re going to live!
But now we are safe

All together
TENEI TE TANGATA PU’RU-HURU
This is the man, so hairy
Because our leader, so strong and masculine,

NA’A NEI TIKI MAI WHAKA-WHITI TE …
Who fetched, and made shine the
Has unified us and brought back the sunny days of

… RA! UPANE! KA UPANE!
Sun! Together! All together …!
Peace. We are all working in harmony, side by side,

A UPANE! KA UPANE!
Together! All together …!
Moving in unison like the hairs on our chief’s legs

WHITI TE RA!
To sun shines!
To prolong these sunny days of peace.

HI!

That translation is a bit off Gazza
Even the wikipedia translation is wrong, it mentions a pack of wolves in the earlier chant
But there are no wolves in NZ lol

Here’s how Ngati Toa tell the story of Te Rauparaha evading his enemies by hiding in a kumara pit
I’ve always remembered the hairy man
But they reckon it’s a woman

Will I die!
Or will I live!
Will I die!
Or will I live!

I live! I live!
For it was indeed the wondrous power of a woman (“the Noa”)
that fetched the sun and caused it to shine again!

[to line up in abreast or in rows]
The sun shines!

Thanks for the correction Bevo, and explanation.
I like the story of the Thistle Inn in Wellington with Te Rauparaha beaching his waka, to go and have beer or two.
Would be nicer if the story was true

That would definitely happen these days

Probably a different bar though.

Back in Te Rauparaha’s time
